Commenter Cal has created a mail art display at her local library – if you’re in Cranston,
RI, stop by and take a look! And, I’d like to add, if you enjoyed the display, be sure to mention it to the librarian on duty! Libraries need all the positive feedback they can get these days!
Thanks, Cal!
“I had posted this about a month ago, but I wanted to let everyone know that I set up a display of mail art I’ve received (along with postcards thru postcrossing.com) at my local library! They let me use a flat, glass display case. I lined the case with a piece of postal-themed fabric – it’s tan with postmarks on it. Then I arranged the various envelopes and postcards in the case, and included my copy of the GOOD MAIL DAY book! I also included some rubber stamps, postage stamps and other related stuff. Came out looking good! I was at the library yesterday returning some books, and it was fun to watch people coming into the library and stopping to look at my display! (It’s right by the entrance door so everyone passes it!)
To Laurie in Exeter (and anyone else who is local to Rhode Island)…if you get a chance to visit Cranston this month, stop by the Central library on Sockanosset Cross Road and take a look!”

Cal’s mail art display is absolutely beautiful! She did a fantastic job putting it together to showcase a variety of her treasures! The display is located right inside the front door to capture the attention of anyone who walks through the doors! The postcards, the letters, the envelope designs are all to be desired! For anyone who likes to receive mail it brings a pang of “I want some of that” to your heart and in your mailbox. The library is easy to locate and parking is abundant. I encourage anyone in the area or passing through the tiny state of Rhode Island to stop in and take a peak. Cal also offers a well written tiny brochure on mail art along with her mail art contact card. I loved rummaging through her pieces with my eyes being inspired by the wonderful artistic talents of mail artists and writers around the world!
Thanks Cal! …from a local mail artist “way out in Exeter”

Laurie – thanks for the nice comment about my exhibit! So glad you took the time to stop by. I got a lot of nice feedback and even received a few postcards from people who wanted to comment by mail!
When the exhibit ended, I got an e-mail from the Rhode Island Philatelic Society, asking me to be a guest speaker at their January meeting! The past president who contacted me said he thought that a presentation on my collection of mail art and postcards would be of interest to their members. I called him and we had a nice chat about all things postal. I’m nervous about speaking, but when it’s something you love, it’s easy to talk about! I’ll set up a mini display at their meeting that night too.
Thank you, Carolee and Jennie, for posting this notice about my display and for allowing us all to connect with each other through this website/blog. I’ve “met” some wonderful mail artists here!
P.S. I took pictures of my exhibit. If anyone would like to see it, send me your e-mail address and I can send you a link to access the pictures on snapfish.com. My e-mail is postagestamp@cox.net.
Thanks, CAL
